The first issue of volume 16 of the American Journal of Play features an interview with leading play therapist Eliana Gil, who discusses her clinical work and research focused on traumatized children and play. The issue also includes articles that explore the philosopher, psychologist, and educator John Dewey’s work on play; standardized instruments developed over the last fifty years to assess the benefit of play on child development; the importance of pretend play on executive function and rehabilitating children with brain injuries; and the impact of a board-gaming approach used to work with autistic individuals.
