The Strong offers behind-the-scenes experiences and unforgettable educational opportunities for lifelong learners amid the museum’s world-class collections, interactive exhibit spaces, and indoor garden. These playful experiences are designed to accommodate a range of interests and physical abilities. Lifelong Learning: Butterfly Talk

Enjoy a classroom-style talk with The Strong’s museum biologist, who will provide fascinating facts and information about butterflies. Then join a guided tour of Upstate New York’s only year-round, indoor butterfly garden. Stroll among lush, tropical foliage and flowers. Encounter hundreds of exotic butterflies from around the world. Participate in a butterfly release when newly emerged butterflies are released into free flight.

Lifelong Learning: Collector’s Corner

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to learn about the life and dreams of one of Rochester’s foremost collectors. Who was Margaret Woodbury Strong, and how did her life and collections inspire The Strong museum? A museum archivist introduces you to the museum’s founder through documents, photographs, and other archival materials. Discover how Margaret set the wheels in motion for what would become the world’s largest collection of toys, dolls, board games, video games, and other historic materials related to play at The Strong—the largest museum in the world dedicated to the study and exploration of play.
